Luke Edwin, 2003/2004 Boys, is the first player to feature in UNITY Football Club’s Saturday Spotlight. Each Saturday, UNITY will highlight a player, coach and/or parent around the club.
Luke Edwin, 15, is a forward for the UNITY 2003/2004 Boys team. Luke, a true No. 10, plays high school soccer at Plymouth-Whitemarsh. Luke has committed himself to UNITY and its mission since the Club’s inception in February 2019.
“I chose UNITY [Football Club] because it was a new club, and it looked like it had good coaches who could help me to improve and get exposure as a player for college,” Luke said via email.
So far, Luke has been impressed by the coaching staff at UNITY.
“My favorite thing about UNITY so far is its coaching,” Luke said. “They’re all very nice while, at the same time, always trying to help you improve. They give you things to do to improve even when we don’t have practice.”
Luke, like many players at UNITY, is as much a fan of watching the sport as he is playing it.
English Premier League side, Arsenal is the team that Luke follows most closely from across the pond. Interestingly, Luke has traveled to five different countries so far in his life. His favorite player is Argentine great, Lionel Messi of F.C. Barcelona. Naturally, Luke jokes that many consider him a “bandwagon fan.”
Luke has many memories in soccer, but his most fond ones come from traveling with his team to tournaments and spending time getting to know his teammates.
UNITY Football Club aims to help players, coaches and parents do exactly that by highlighting its members each Saturday.
